Why is my shower backing up into my toilet?
If your toilets, kitchen sink and tub or shower are all backed up, you probably have a clogged sewer line. When you flush the toilet, water backs up into or comes up in the tub or shower. When your sewer line is clogged, the water can’t go down the drain.
Is the shower connected to the toilet drain?
The shower is connected to the toilet’s fixture drain meaning that the the toilet is no longer the last fixture connected to the wet vent.
Where is the wet vent for the toilet?
If you were to run the vent for the shower as shown in grey, the toilet would now be wet vented by the shower. The pipe downstream of the vent connection to the shower’s fixture drain and the connection to the toilet would be the wet vent.
How big of a vent do I need for a bath LAV?

Why does my shower drain gurgle when I flush the toilet?
Since there is only a small amount of pressure created by the water in your p-trap, flushing your toilet can cause water to flow up and out of your shower drain and gurgle while it passes through water that is held in the p-trap. It’s the same as if you were to blow air through a pipe filled with water.
