Why is my chlorine feeder leaking water?
The main problem that pool owners encounter is leaking because of a worn O-ring in the lid. The unit can clog with scale, but it won’t if you regularly clean it. Clogs can also occur in the control valve when you vacuum the pool, and airlocks can develop inside the cartridge.
Why is my chlorine feeder not working?
Air that has entered the system elsewhere, usually through a leaky O-ring in the pump, may be trapped in the chlorinator canister and cause an air lock. Restarting the pump with the lid removed and allowing the canister to fill with water and purge the air may restore flow through the system.
What should my chlorine feeder be set at?
Chlorine Feeders: Choose a mid-point setting on the 1-10 dial. The higher the setting, the greater the dissolution rate. A setting of 5 may be too high, and it depends on the number of tablets in the feeder.
Does it matter which way the salt cell is installed?

Do I need a floating chlorine dispenser?

How do you know when to replace your salt cell?
What Are Some Signs That Your Salt Cell May Need Replacing?
- Looking worse for wear, it’s lost a few plates and the acid baths just aren’t working.

Why does my Hayward chlorinator keep leaking water?
This is a common problem with the Hayward Chlorinators. If the O-ring stretches (it will eventually) it will jam up and you will not be able to close the lid tightly and it will leak. This is a big deal for in-line chlorinators because you will not be able to use the filter until it is fixed. Replacing the o-ring is pretty easy.
What’s the difference between Hayward cl220 and cl110 chlorinator?
The Hayward CL110 Chlorinator is a bit different from the CL220 model. This model uses flexible black chlorine feeder hoses to connect the tank to the filter system. From time to time these lines will become brittle and need to be replaced.
Where is the flow arrow on Hayward pool chlorinator?
In order for the Hayward CL220 or the CL110 to work right you must have the chlorinator set and installed with the correct direction of flow. On the side of the chlorine feeder you will see an arrow that says, “flow”. This arrow needs to be pointed towards the return side of the swimming pool plumbing.
What kind of pipe does the Hayward chlorinator use?
The Hayward Chlorinator comes in an offline and an inline model. The inline chlorinator connects using PVC fitting and unions and is piped “inline” with the swimming pool plumbing.

First. check the o-ring, and the top of the canister where the top screws on to make sure it is clean and not gunked up, or out of place, or broken. Next, check the screw just underneath the black cap at the top.
What’s the maximum flow setting on a Hayward chlorinator?
The maximum flow setting (10) produces the most chlorine. If the dial is already set to maximum, the pool filter may be restricting flow, so try cleaning it. When all else fails, you may have to remove the chlorinator lid and manually clean the screen inside it.
