Why does my water tank not go over 40 pounds?
With pump running the tank will not go over 40 pounds pressure and the pressure switch is a 30/50 so the pump keeps running until the breaker in the switch trips. therefor, the water runs until the pressure in the tank runs out, then have to reset the pump switch…. Is this a bad tank? Phil, Mechanical Engineer.

Why does my water pump not pressurize over 30 psi?
When I turn it on using the breaker in the main breaker panel, it turns on and moves the pressure to 30 psi according to the pressure gauge, but the pump won’t turn off. It just keeps running and I’m forced to turn it off using the breaker feeding it.
Why does the pressure tank only get up to 20 psi?
An artesian well overflows onto the ground and you have to cap/seal it to keep the water in. If the pressure only reaches 20 psi, AND the pump keeps running, then that is all the pressure the pump is capable of producing, meaning it has become defective for some reason, usually because it is worn out.
Why does my water pump not make 40 psi?
Your water level has obviously dropped enough to keep the pump from making 40 psi. When it comes back up, the pump will do the same if you readjust the switch. Or you can get a better (bigger) pump that will do more pressure. Not all pumps are created equal.

What should the pressure be on a water pump?
I drain water from the system and then it will climb to 40 psi and shut off normal. So long as we are using water the system will work, but if we use water enough to start the pump and don’t use anymore water the pressure goes to 30 psi no hight and the pump stay running.
