Sometimes when people turn on the water taps in the stand up shower, the pipes start vibrating and I can hear it throughout my entire condo. Almost feels like they will explode until I turn the taps off.
What causes a whistling sound coming from my upstairs shower?
Any ideas? This could be caused by higher than normal water pressure, that’s why the noise changes when you turn on the sink (you reduce the flow to the shower). You could adjust the Pressure Reducing Valve for the whole house (if you have one), or install one on the line to the shower.
Why does my shower make a noise when I Turn on the water?
Rattles from the pipes behind the shower, on the other hand, usually indicate pipes that haven’t been properly clamped to the framing. A loud knock when you turn on the valve is a symptom of water hammer, which is caused by excessive pressure in the pipes.
Where are the stops on a shower valve?
Most shower valves have integral stops, (screwdriver stops) located behind the face plate where the supplies connect to the valve. They may be reached by removing the handle and face plate. Try to start the vibration and then turn both screwdriver stops counterclockwise a quarter turn at a time until the noise stops.

Why does my shower vent bubble when I take a shower?
P-traps are designed to hold standing water which acts as a barrier against sewer gases and odors coming back up the pipes and contaminating the air in the room. Because the vent is a straight pipe that emerges from the roof, it may get clogged by debris, insects, leaves, even dead mice.
