Why does it smell like rotten eggs when my washer drains?
For a rotten egg smell, it could be one of two things. The most likely is bacteria growing in your washer because of built-up dirt, mildew and mold, lint, and/or soap. Natural gas is odorless so the utility companies add sulfur which gives it that rotten egg smell so it’s detectable when there is a leak.
Why does my washer drain at same time as my toilet?
Surging air usually isn’t a problem, so vents are normally positioned near the drains they service to allow air to fill the vacuum. If a toilet and washing machine drain are on the same stretch of horizontal pipe, however, the positioning of the vents could create a different effect.
Why does my washing machine overflow when I Turn on the sink?
Your washing machine might be connected to the same waste pipe as the sink, bathtub, and toilet. So, when the washing machine evacuates the water, it pushes the water extensively at a high amount using its drain pump. If your sink or toilet overflows when the washer drains, this generally means that your shared waste pipe is partially blocked.
What to do when toilet overflows in washing machine?
When the toilet is overflowing, your first impulse is probably to plunge it, and that is a useful strategy. It works better if you block the washing machine drain, allowing the plunger to exert a stronger force on the clog. If plunging has no effect, you can probably work the clog out of the drain with a plumbing auger.
Where does the washing machine drain into the sink?

The laundry room and bathroom with the sink are adjacent and the washing machine drains into a drain in the wall which I assume merges with the sink drain which is slightly lower. I have tried running a snake into both the sink drain and washer drain, but this has not solved the problem.
Why does my washing machine drain when I flush the toilet?
But, it doesn’t have to mean that your toilet waste line is malfunctioning. In some households, the toilet drain system is connected to the washing machine drain system. And, there might be a pressure difference in the drain system, which means that your toilet waste line is functioning properly.

Why is my washing machine overflowing my basement drain?
The problem is most certainly lint from the washing machine unless the clog is considerably downstream of the drain (could be tree roots, etc.) Do you have a problem with any other drain causing a backup in the floor?
