I haven’t worked on Ruth Berry pumps and tanks for a long time. They are hard, if not impossible, to get parts for. They were “decent” pumps in their day but are mostly outdated. My advice is to use the existing tank, get a new shallow well jet pump if that’s how yours is set-up, and switch over to a new pump.
What happens when you turn off your water pump?
It will go to about 25 lbs and then begins making an unusual noise and is not pumping water. The pump will continue running unless I turn it off. When I turn it off and let it sit for a while and then turn it back on it will begin pumping until it builds another five pounds or so before it stops pumping again.
