Where can I get a replacement Mansfield faucet stem?
All in all a high quality replacement stem but could rquire a slight modification if your faucet was purchased during the time Mansfield was purchased by Prier. As others have said, make sure you have the correct length. It also pays to have the rebuild kit on hand, this kit can be bought at a big box hardware store (Menards has them).
How long does it take to replace Mansfield stem?
I needed to replace my original 30 year old Mansfield stem as it was leaking. This was a perfect replacement that took 5 minutes to swap out. It fits perfectly as long as you do your due diligence and pre-measure your previous removed stem before ordering.

Why is there a gap in the surround of my Tub?
Some of that may have to do with the fact that our tub isn’t level with respect to the walls, so the surround near the faucet was MUCH higher than near the back end of the tub. Surprisingly enough, the space behind the tub did NOT have any mold.
