When should I replace my water softener resin?
Water softener resin will usually need to be replaced every 10 years. Resin that’s exposed to high levels of chlorine, iron, or water hardness will only last around 5 years.
How do you know if resin is bad?
The flat edge will catch resin, but you must remove very slowly. Squeeze between finger and thumb. If it smashes up, it bad. Real bad resin will feel almost slick when smashed.
