Each tee has a diverter that forces the water to the side outlet… one is installed each for the supply and return both in opposite directions… this way the water is forced up into the rad and the return of the rad is diverted into the main loop…
What does a Monoflow tee do?
Monoflow tees are used to divert some water from the main loop into each radiator. Use one monoflow tee on the return if the radiator(s) are located above the main loop; use two monoflow tees if the radiators are installed below the main loop. Place the tees in the main loop to each radiator at least 12″ apart.
How does a Monoflo system work?
Fourth tee (a Monoflo) comes from the down-feed radiator. In other words, you alternate the up and down connections. That produces more resistance to flow along the main and nudges more hot water into the radiators.
Can someone explain why monoflow systems are used?
A guy ran 3 floors of monoflow baseboard heat and its all on one zone. He wants it in 3 zones now. Ill take pics of the job and repost once I see it. Have fun with that just had to re zone a monoflow system myself. Nice idea until you have to re zone it.
