What does a diverter stem do?
Diverter valves are essential components in tub and shower combination fixtures. As the name suggests, diverters divert water between the fixture’s tub spout and showerhead.
How do you fix a diverter?
How to Repair a Shower Diverter
- Turn off the water supply to your shower.
- Seal off your drain with tape so that small screws or other important parts are not lost down the drainpipe.
- Tighten the screws behind the faceplate of the diverter valve.
- Disassemble the shower diverter.
- Replace the diverter.
Can a hot and cold cartridge be reversed?
If the hot and cold are reversed, the stem of the cartridge needs to be adjusted. Rotate the stem of the cartridge 180 degrees (1/2 turn), it is not necessary to remove the cartridge. If the hot supply is on the left and the cold supply is on the right, the notch on the cartridge needs to face the 6:00 position.
When to replace hot water and cold water cartridges?
If you need to replace either the hot or cold water cartridge for one of your faucets, we recommend that you replace both cartridges at the same time, because the other cartridge may also need to be replaced in the near future.
