What causes a boiler to backfire?
A puffback occurs when a furnace or boiler does not ignite properly and allows oil or gas vapors to build up within the ignition/combustion chamber. When it does finally ignite, the excess fuel in the chamber causes this puffback scenario.
Why is the oil not getting through to my boiler?
Not open for further replies. Hi, ran out of heating oil, got tank refilled but no oil seems to be getting through to burner, it fires up for a couple of seconds and cuts out again. Could oil supply be clogged up along pipe somewhere or system need bled?
Can a gas boiler run out of fuel?
There are however important differences, including the fact that unlike gas appliances, oil boilers can run out of fuel. If this happens, air may get trapped in the fuel line, stopping the appliance from working. If you have an oil boiler and you want to know what to do if you accidentally run out of fuel, keep reading.
Why is soot blowing in boiler operation and their operation?
It is estimated that 3 mm of soot can causes an increase in fuel consumption by 2.5 % due to increased flue gas temperature. The frequency of soot blowing is depending upon type of fuel used. Coal is used as powder condition in pulverized coal fired boiler. So lot of soot is deposited in this type of boiler.
How does an oil line get to the boiler?
These is likley to be a braided hose connecting the oil line to the pump (if Pressure jet) Undoing the union that connects thye hose will purge air from pipe. (If gravity feed from oil tank?)

Do you need to bleed air from two pipe oil burner?
Two pipe oil burner systems do not normally need to be air- bled since the fuel unit will return any excess air along with oil down the return line and back into the oil tank. Question: I need to bleed air from the oil line but I’m afraid I will start a fire from the built up oil from pushing the reset button.
When does an oil boiler automatically shut down?
When an oil boiler detects that there is a fault in the system (usually via the flame sensor) it will automatically lockout or shut down. It does this when it senses that the fault would cause damage to internal components and/or present a safety risk if the boiler were to continue operating.
