Twitter Spaces is a live audio space where users can connect with other people. It was tested with a small number of users in November 2020 and then released to the general public in May 2021.
Twitter Spaces is the Clubhouse version of Twitter, a social network solely focused on this live audio space feature. This audio chat feature is now included in many social networks.
The idea behind Twitter has probably always been to enable communication. For this reason, Twitter buttons on other websites often say "Join the conversation." Therefore, the audio function seems to be a particularly natural extension of this social network.
