Is the Riello control box compatable for all burners?
Think youll find not all Riello control boxes are compatable, you need to get correct box and photocell for that particular burner. Saw this just before the forum collapsed. Have you sorted yet? Usual problem is with photocell, but you swapped it.
When to change the solenoid on a Riello 40?
Change the solenoid again,it can only be 4 things if flames dies. Oil starvation, solenoid failing when hot,foto cell control box.I would plumb for oil starvation if been running for a few days,normally solenoid fail after 10/15 minutes after ignition
What to do when your Riello 40 won’t lock out?
Try changing the motor capacitor. When it goes to lockout, does it always start 1st time or does the motor sometimes hum?

More information would help diagnose the problem, such as burner make/model. seconds from motor starting to lock-out occurring (is this consistent or does burner fire and lock-out at intermittant periods afterwards). A Riello 40 has a one piece electrode, No Ht leads, and the ign Txfr is part of the control box.
Can a Riello burner be replaced with a RDB?
Check that the motor white wire gives about 50v to the control box. If not, replace the motor. If it does, then the fault is probably with the control box but further investigation is necessary. Not open for further replies. Riello 40 G2S replaced with a Riello RDB ?

The capacitor is only used to help start the motor so has no bearing on the ignition. It may be that the ignition leads are faulty and in changing the capacitor you repositioned them slightly. My first step would be to check the ignition leads are in good order.
