Is the Riello burner RDB still not starting?
After replacing the filter and clearing the oil line of air and crap still no joy. new jet & cleaned filter/strainer on the pump still no joy, so the pump has indeed had it. New one coming in next day or two. Not got a price yet but with the callout and the labour it’s gonna hurt
Is the photocell faulty on the Riello RDB?
Sounds like the photocell is faulty if you can unplug the Photocell from the control box and see what happens, if after about 15 seconds the burner lights up and then goes to lock-out 5 seconds later then the cell is faulty and should be replaced – a common problem with the riello RDB!! thanks for the suggestion.
What should I do if my Riello burner won’t fire?
Then after a couple more it finally fired and stayed lit, though after this it took though the water a good 5 minutes to get even vaguely above cold (unlike previous times). Turned the heating on and left it a 30 mins. rads got nice and hot. v. hot water from tap (as normal).
Why does my diynot oil burner not light?
The coil has resistance, seems about 100 ohms. I removed the solenoid itself and it was not seized. The next step would probably be to patch in a couiple of wires from the control box to the solenoid and see if the control box is trying to actuate the solenoid. If so I would then be a bit perplexed.

Why does my diynot Riello burner not ignite?
Refilled the tank and bled the oil through the hexagonal bleed screw and all ran well. A few days later and now the Riello Burner will not ignite and goes into lockout. I have tried re-bleeding and there is plenty of oil.

Over the years I have collected quite a supply of Riello oil pumps, many seized solid, but recently I have had a few, mainly RDB pumps with a different problem.

Changing the pump on a Riello Rdb Burner is quite easy to do. I changed this pump on the bench and tested the burner afterwards. What to do if your Riello burner wont fire?
Re-fit control box and fire up burner. If it fires after 12 secs and then locks out after 5 secs, the photocell is faulty. 2. Check resistance of the solenoid coil; blue and brown wires (1.47 kohms) and blue and black wires (1.4 Ohms) readings should be within 10% of these figures. If faulty then replace coil.

When this stuff was coming out with the oil I’d guess it was maybe 20% of what was coming out of the bleed valve (the rest being oil, no bubbles). Then after that the next few bleeds seemed to be all pure oil and then it lit (before going out after half an hour or so never to start again).
