Is the Amtrol wx-202 well-X Trol tank waterlogged?
Our Amtrol WX-202 Well-X-Trol well tank was short cycling and making noises after getting to full pressure. It turns out the tank was waterlogged and needed to be removed. It was replaced with a WX-202XL which runs at a higher pressure (40-60 psi). Here is a link to the tanks on Amazon:
What should the pressure be on an Amtrol well tank?
Note: All tanks are pre-pressurized at 38 PSI and should always be set 2 PSIbelow the cut in of your pressure switch. It is recommended to check tank pressure before installation. Pressure switch settings should not exceed a 20 PSI differential between cut in and cut out.
Why was the well X Trol invented by Amtrol?
Well-X-Trol ® It’s More Than Just a Well Tank™ Amtrol invented the first pre-pressurized well tank over 50 years ago as a better solution to traditional air-over-water tanks. This revolutionary product featured an innovative design that uses a hoop ring and groove to lock the diaphragm, liner and shell together.
What are the features of well X Trol?
Today, Well-X-Trol is still the standard of the industry with many unique features including high strength steel to deliver 150 PSIG working pressure, patented Turbulator water circulator device and antimicrobial liner that neutralizes bacteria on contact.
How does a well X Trol well water tank work?
Hunker may earn compensation through affiliate links in this story. A Well-X-Trol well-water tank uses a pressurized butyl diaphragm to maintain water pressure. The diaphragm isolates the tank’s water storage area from the pressurized air.

Where is the air valve cap on a well X Trol?
Remove the Well-X-Trol tank’s air valve cap, located on top of the tank. Turn the air valve cap counterclockwise by hand. Inspect the Well-X-Trol’s identification label. This lists the factory’s air-pressure setting and the tank’s maximum water pressure. Check the air pressure in the Well-X-Trol tank with an air-pressure gauge.
