Is it safe to use a Bradford white water heater?

Why does my Bradford white water heater smell bad?
BRADFORD WHITE ELECTRIC WATER HEATER — about 2 yrs old. Just discovered this “smell” is coming from our water heater and due to the rod they use in their product. They do “not” consider this a defect, and their recourse is for you to replace it — of course, at your expense.
Are there any bad thermostats from Bradford White?
Bad thermostats leakers factory bent main valve (cardboard had no sign of abuse) opened bent main valve 3 in a row they sent out to me! I told them to open box and inspect before bringing out only then did they bring out a good one only to have thermostat fail after 6 months. Junk never again. User’s recommendation: Never use Bradford white!!

After putting up with it through Christmas, we contacted out plumber who contacted Bradford White tech support who said it was a faulty anode line and would replace the part. We inquired about getting the unit replaced since it was faulty out of the box.
