Why does my boiler not respond to the thermostat?
No matter what setting I have the boiler on (it only has on/off/timer), the boiler simply will not respond to the thermostat setting. Even if I have the thermostat on its lowest possible setting (5 degrees C), the boiler will still stay on even though the thermostat shows the current temp as being well above 5.

Can a room thermostat control central heating?
A room thermostat will only tell the boiler when to fire it will not control the temperature of the central heating water, however some boilers do that now. We have a 2-year old Vaillant boiler that has water temperature profiles so the central heating water will only heat to a pre-deterimined level based on the profile set.
