Turn control Knob to “IGNITION PRESS”. Press the knob firmly, and hold down for about 15 seconds, the electronic ignition system will ignite the pilot, and the spark will continue while the knob is held down. Release the knob.

There is a very small amount of power used when on standby, like a TV but it is important to leave the power turned ON if in a frost location because the unit has anti freeze heater that will automatically turn on at approx 4 degrees. The frost heater requires less than 100 watts of power.
