How can I Check my Potterton profile 40E?

You can check the fan either by feeling the outlet of the flue for air flow or removing the boiler cover and actually looking at the fan. Obviously only remove the cover if you are competent with exposed mains wiring.

Why is my Potterton profile 80E not lighting?
If the fan is stuck or going very slow there will be insufficient air flow in the flue to activate the air pressure switch and this will stop the pilot light being lit by the spark igniter. I took my fan apart, cleaned the bearings and its all ok now, however I expect the bearings are worn and it may go faulty again.

How long does it take Potterton Prima F to ignite pilot light?
We have a [u] [b]Potterton Prima F [/b] [/u] boiler and it has developed a problem where it can take up to 10 minutes to ignite/ pilot light to ignite. The boiler keeps attempting to start but takes ages to actually kick in. Is there anyone who can advise as what to what the fault may be?

I had the same problem that turned out to be the fan not working. Unless the fan is causing a vacuum within the boiler the boiler will not fire up. It acts a a safety device. I can answer this question… Potterton profile 60e not igniting….?

The boilers I have had in the past have had manual switches and buttons to hold in to relight a pilot light.
Is there a fuse in my Potterton pump?
My Potterton Profile doesn’t seem to have any of these things and it all looks automatic with wiring leading from a circuit board to the spark. All other electrical things are working like the pump and the programmer, but I did take the fuse out a little while ago to change the pump.
