Do you glue p-trap?
PVC pipes under sinks include the P-trap that connects the drain to the house plumbing. Such pipes can be connected using threaded pieces or with glue. Gluing your PVC pipes creates a much stronger and permanent hold that can only be broken by cutting off the pipes.
Does p-trap have to be below drain?
You attach the p-trap directly to the drainage and manuever the p-traps exits into you existing drain. It is not ideal to have the p-trap below the the exit drain because water gravity has to force the water out instead of it flowing downwards naturally.
Do I need PVC cement for P-trap?
1 Answer. You do not use cement or any sealant on the threads of a p-trap. It would not do any good and would bond the threads and so prevent adjustment.
Can a P trap be angled?
The only way I can get a P trap to fit under the tub is to use a flexible plastic one and angle it sideways (horizontally) about 45 degrees. The inlet and outlet is essentially at the same height as if it were installed the regular way except they are slanted.
Why s trap illegal?
Back to “S” traps – The reason “S” traps aren’t allowed is because they have the potential to suck, or ‘siphon’, water out of the trap as the water flows down the drain. On a properly installed “P” trap, there is a vent at the same place the drain turns downwards, which breaks the siphon.

How do you hook up a P trap to a sink?
Make sure the p-trap is level. Now measure from the inlet of the p-trap to the bottom of the TY fitting. If this is too far away you will need to measure from the floor to the p-trap inlet and then from the bottom of the cabinet to the TY and subtract the two. In both cases add 1 1/4 inches to get the proper length of pipe. Glue into the TY.
