Yes! You can take your soft water system with you. There’s no need to start again from scratch.
How do most residential water softeners work?
A typical water-softening system removes calcium and magnesium ions from hard water and replaces them with sodium ions. Gradually, most of the sodium ions are released into the household water, and the resin becomes saturated with calcium and magnesium ions.
Where do you locate a water softener?
The water softener is installed at the mains water supply; usually under the kitchen sink and is plumbed in to the pipes there. You can also install a water softener at any other point in your water supply, such as in your garage or pantry.
Can a water softener be left plugged in all the time?
Many basic water softeners use a simple time clock that trips a pin or tab every set number of days to tell the system to regenerate. By moving all the pins or tabs to the off (in) position, you can leave your water softener plugged in but it will not regenerate.
How can I tell if my water softener is working?
After the water is back on and running well, take your water softener out of bypass mode, and run more water through the same sink faucet until you can feel that it is soft. If your not sure that your water is soft, you can check it with a simple do it yourself water test kit.

Does your water softener have a “Vacation Mode”? You may not know it, but if you have a water softener with a digital display, it may have a “Vacation Mode” that when activated, will stop your water softener from regenerating while you are away on vacation. On many digital systems, activating the vacation mode only takes a few steps.
Why is my Kinetico Water Softener so salty?
Salty water from a Kinetico water softener is often because of poor pressure going into the softener. If you have a water-sediment pre-filter before your Kinetico water softener (as I highly recommend), it may be clogged and preventing proper water pressure from getting to your Kinetico water softener.
